Indian Chinese Saturday

What does a lazy Saturday in Mysore look like? Sleeping late (8am!), sipping tea and returning emails all morning, then hand-washing laundry in a bucket and hanging it outside to dry. I spend most of the day at home, except for a run down the street to carry out some Indian Chinese for lunch. Along with a million daal, curry, rice and flatbread options, there is Chinese food on nearly every restaurant menu here! I hardly ever eat it, and soon regret it...

Organic India Tulsi Green Tea in the morning...

And breakfast is pongal, a spicy, savory, "creamy" (vegan) mixture of beans, rice and herbs. It's soothing and filling. I'd like to learn to make this one at home!

In the afternoon I go out to pick up lunch, some coconuts, and fruit for tomorrow's breakfast. I eat "Indian Chinese," a rare (and unwise) choice for me: Vegetable Balls in Chili Garlic Gravy, Aloo Parotha (Wheat flatbread with potato, onion, garlic and chilis), and Gobi Manchurian (cauliflower florets battered and fried with a spicy chili pepper onion and garlic sauce.) Actually, the gobi is not such a rare choice... I'm a little addicted.

...And after giving a little time for my belly to attempt digesting that mess, and for my mind to wonder what would possess me to eat that, I take some chlorella and try to put out the fire by sipping fresh coconut water for the rest of the evening.

Thursday Lunch

Lunch is a little leftover daal and basmati rice with fresh arugula and hemp seeds... And then a little nap... And then 2 more classes to go today!

Thursday September 8th

My morning tea... Today it's an herbal daily detox blend. And I teach a led class right after our morning Mysore class on Thursdays, so I have a small Vega vegan protein shake mixed with hemp milk in between.

Chips

After a quick post-beach shower I sit on the front steps and eat some chips. Today I'm feeling a little lonely... I love living here in paradise and feel grateful for my blessings every single day, but sometimes I really miss my close friends and family.
